Dec. 28th, 2016 11:54 amah, it's been a week. what have i been up to...?
i've been baking a lot of bread lately! mostly sourdough. i got a sourdough starter going on the 22nd, if i remember correctly. i made the first bread from that on christmas day and it was good if a little mild. i've made 2 or 3 more sourdough breads since that first, and they starter has been tangier each time.
you know, i'm not actually sure what sourdough bread is meant to taste like? lol. i haven't had any in a horrifically long time so i'm mostly just winging it right now. it's good bread but who actually knows if it's good *sourdough* bread.
before this week i was using a very old betty crocker bake-it-easy model bread machine (and before that, some no knead bread in a pot in the oven!) but it fell off the counter and got a bit busted. my lovely sister bought me a new one, an oster machine with a 13-hour delay. it's a wonderful little thing though i really wish i could turn down its volume. those beeps! are so loud!
i'm going to keep making sourdough for a while. it's good bread and i need to figure out the proper instant yeast : wild yeast ratio so that it doesn't rise so much that it bumps up to the machine's viewing window and impede the actual baking of the bread.... -__-
we do celebrate christmas around here so! the haul:
good genderly news: used my christmas money to buy my first compression binder! from gc2b, olive green half length. i'm so excited. no idea when it will be here so my excitement is boundless. it's an interesting feeling lol
media and fandom. i watched season one of the bachelor so i could listen to the rose buddies episode about it. what a weird and bad season! i have never seen a full season of the bachelor(ette) but i feel comfortable saying wow that was a weird and unenjoyable thing lol. i'm still not able to listen to the terrace house episode because i want to watch the whole thing first. in other mcelroy news im at episode 160 of my brother my brother and me. still making my way through it. my dedication...!
i haven't yet been able to see rogue one but i will soon. i've still got a rebels rewatch to get through and an essay(!) to write. and there's a lot of comics to get through. and a kotor playthrough to get done. and speaking of star wars...
carrie fisher's death. i'm absolutely gutted. i've been crying on and off all day. she was an incredible woman on so many fronts, as an activist, as an actress, as a writer, as a person.... i hope her friends and family are able to find support & peace as they grieve. what an awful thing.

- some wonderful jackets! i've been wearing this grey one for... three days. it's got double zippers, which is powerfully dorky
- noise cancelling headphones. edifier H840. they're terrific (for me! i'm no expert on headphones) and i'm so glad to finally have headphones that don't hurt me <:3
